Sapmi Trail (2019 – till now)

A journey high above the arctic circle
to learn about Sami culture and Sami music

The Sami are the last indigenous people on northwestern Europe. A people who live with the land, wild animals but are in tune with the modern world around them. In the summer of 2019 I bought a second hand bike in Boden, Sweden and cycled in Sapmi territory to learn about and from Sami culture and especially Sami music. 2000 kilometer on a bike, 1000 kilometers hitchhiking and 200 kilometers of walking showed me a glimpse of Sami Culture. So far this turned into a series of articles on the Dutch website of Mountainreporters and a radioshow. This project is ongoing.
